at The Cross Keys Hotel, Kelso
At the last meeting of the River Tweed Commission, it decided to introduce total Catch & Release for Spring Salmon for the next five years.
The Commission will add detail to this in terms of timing of the "Spring" season, methods of fishing and release protocols such as the disposal of mercy killings, at its meeting in September so that these decisions are made in advance of 2011 Spring lets. Ahead of that meeting we would like to consult with Tweed Fishery Proprietors, their letting agents, anglers and interested members of connected businesses - such as accommodation providers and tackle shops - so that a full range of opinions are canvassed and taken into account by the Commission. To do this, there will be a meeting in The Cross Keys Hotel, Kelso on the evening of Monday, 16th August at 7pm.
The full range of opinions and advice that is collected will be presented to Commission for their meeting on 6th September at which the final decisions will be taken.
A paper on Tweed Spring Salmon Conservation and why the Commission is altering its management policy can be downloaded as a pdf attachment below.
