LOOK OUT FOR TAGGED FISH ON TWEED

The Tweed Foundation is tagging fish at the bottom of the River to find out how many get caught by anglers on their way upstream. Some of these fish also have acoustic tags in them, so that the fish can be tracked.

The tags are situated below the dorsal fin and are YELLOW or BLUE
and have a number printed on them

There is an angler reward of £7 for reporting the following information to The Tweed Foundation

The YELLOW tags are on Salmon tagged during June, and on Salmon & Sea-trout which have acoustic tags in them
The preferable option for a yellow tagged capture would be for it to go back into the water, unharmed.
However, if it is killed, in addition to providing The Tweed Foundation with the information from the yellow floy tag,
please could you also save and return any acoustic tag in the fish.

The BLUE tags are on Salmon & Sea-trout tagged from July onwards and do not have acoustic tags in them
These fish can be killed or released, as appropriate.

If you can, please also take a scale sample from any tagged fish that is killed
This is particularly valuable as The Foundation will have taken a scale sample from the fish
when it was tagged and comparison of the amount of scale erosion between
the two samples will show the rate of erosion.
