The Tweed Angling Fair, now an annual fixture in the Borders, was held at Springwood Park, Kelso last weekend. Those attending supported two initiatives that fall within The Tweed Foundation’s remit: Tweed Wheelyboats and TweedStart.
“Tweedability” – The Tweed Wheelyboats
ANGLING FOR INJURED SOLDIERS

In addition to providing specially designed boats for disabled and less-able anglers to use on Tweed, free of charge, for the first time this summer The Tweed Foundation and The Wheelyboat Trust are hosting Salmon fishing on the River for around 30 Scottish soldiers who have been injured in recent campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq.
A prime Tweed beat has generously donated a week’s Salmon fishing this summer for injured servicemen and women from the Army, Navy and Airforce, and all other associated costs have been covered, this year, by sponsors.
We would very much like to make this a
regular feature on Tweed and therefore invited anglers attending the Fair to
join our list of sponsors of these events by making a cash donation for this
most deserving of causes. Their
response over the two days was much appreciated and £385 was raised to help with future events.
A huge thank you to all of you!
TWEEDSTART

TweedStart – introducing angling and river craft to all ages, and especially for children – also benefited from support over the Tweed Angling Fair weekend. The Atlantic Salmon Reserve (ASR) held a reception last Saturday evening and a raffle raise £481 for TweedStart. Many thanks to all who supported the ASR evening event.
