The fish counters' results for 2009 are attached (Trout and Salmon combined). The annual total for the Ettrick was just below average, but there was a greater concentration than usual in a single month, October,  which had the greatest count for a single month yet recorded. The highest daily total every recorded also happened that month. The total for the third year of the Gala counter fell  between the totals for the first and second years and there was also a concentration of the count in October. The extra concentration in October at both counters will have been a reflection of the dry start to last Autumn which would have delayed fish movement.
