Fish Counter results for August (Attached):The Ettrick total was well above average, but average means little in August which is a very variable month. If dry, there are only a few tens of fish, if wet, there can be several hundred. The Gala count was down on the two previous Augusts counted, but with such a short track record, this means little.

Fish Counters' results for July (see attachment): The Ettrick numbers were just below average, but better than for some previous years. From a quick examination of the video clips, about three-quarters were Salmon. The Gala counter was very much in line with the previous three July counts, though mainly trout.

Fish Counter results for June 2009: Despite the low water levels and the poor catches, the Ettrick counts continue to be within the normal range and are a 100 or so up on last year at this time. The fourteen fish up the Gala Water were all Brown-trout around the 30cms range and it is of interest to see them making the journey in such hot weather and low flows. See attachment for the results.

Ettrick fish counter results to the end of May: Contrary to expectations based on the poor catches and on the periods of very low water on the Ettrick this Spring, the counter results have been within the range of previous Mays. The headline Salmon count is 133 so far.
