The Tweed Foundation used the Paxton netting station last Saturday to catch, tag and return fish for its exploitation study.  The study helps the Foundation collect information on where our Salmon and Sea-trout travel to in the catchment, how long they remain in the River and the recapture rate by rod and line.

18 fish were caught on Saturday, some very fresh: 15 Salmon and 3 Sea-trout, including three 15lbs Salmon.

Anglers should please look carefully at any fish they catch to see if there is a tag in the dorsal fin.  Examples of tags are shown below.

On Salmon, the tag will be a thin, yellow plastic type                                                                   On Sea-trout, a small green Carling tag on wire

If you catch a tagged fish, please report it straight away to The Tweed Foundation, giving the tag number, date and place of capture and whether the fish has been kept, or returned to the water.

Reports of tagged fish to:  The Tweed Foundation.  Tel: 10896 848271.  Email: info@tweedfoundation.org.uk or directly to Ronald Campbell at rcampbell@tweedfoundation.org.uk

Tag information can also be passed to The Foundation via the RTC's Water Bailiffs.
