Monday 2nd March: Down to Kelso early, to the AGM of the RTC, delivering a new fish measuring board to The Junction on the way. A mass of busines and then James gave a presentation on the fish counter results, Kenny on the new "Slot" limits and I gave notice that the new, 5th edition of the fisheries management plan would be presented in draft to the Tweed Council in June for consideration in September. Back at the office, some work for the North Sea Sea-trout proposal - some interesting work being considered by the new German partner. Also preparations for two meetings up at Faskally tomorrow.
Tuesday 3rd March : At the Freshwater Fisheries Laboratory, Faskally, for a morning meeting on the Code of Good Practice for Freshwater Fisheries Management that is being drawn up under the Fisheries Forum's Stategic Framework. In the afternoon, another meeting on Stock Assessment for Scottish salmon fisheries.
Wednesday 4th March : On leave. James at Faskally for an SFCC Management Committee meeting
Thursday 5th March: Usual weekly clean of the Peebles trap in the morning, then more work on my talk for the RAFTS conference next Wednesday.
Friday 6th March Montly joint meeting of the RTC & Foundation staffs, followed by our monthly biologist's meeting. James will be spending much of the next month on the scales database, with some preparation for river netting. We've not been able to do much the last two years because the "traditional" low water months have not been so. This time, we'll be prepared for early season low water. Kenny has a thousand or so trout catch logbooks to get out for the start of the new season. Spend the rest of the day on my talk for the RAFTS conference.
