Stocking of fish is no longer permitted in open waters of the Tweed River system. Stocking may be permitted in still waters, with consent, so long as no new species of fish that could breed in the wild are introduced. Such stockings of non-breeding fish can only be made into waters that are screened to prevent them escaping.
The River Tweed Commission has just produced a new leaflet explaining
this policy and the procedure that must be followed by those wishing
to stock in the Tweed and Eye District.
Copies of the leaflet are available from the RTC's office:
Tel: 01896 848294
Email: enquiries@rtc.org.uk
or a pdf version is attached
Further information on the RTC's Stocking Policy can be found on its website:
