With the Winter Grayling fishing season either not too far away or almost upon us for most Tweed Angling Associations and Clubs (the season varies between Associations), it is time for the Tweed Trout & Grayling Initiative to launch its 2008/2009 Winter Grayling Log Book. Theses Log Books are given to anglers to record their catches in a simple format that only takes a minute or so per trip. The books should be filled in after each fishing trip then returned to the Initiative at the end of the Winter Grayling season.

The results are used to monitor Grayling stocks from different parts of the Tweed catchment. Log Books filled in during previous Grayling fishing seasons have shown how populations differ in relation to channel size. It is important that we have as much information as possible to be able to draw any useful data from this study, so if you would like to keep a Winter Grayling Log this season please contact:

The TTGI Biologist,  Kenny Galt
Either Telephone at The Tweed Foundation  01896 848271
Or, Email him directly:   kgalt@tweedfoundation.org.uk

All necessary data, including return details and examples of how to fill in the Log Books correctly, are included within the books themselves.

Note: a separate Log Book is used for the Trout fishing season and these are distributed with season tickets for TTGI member Associations. They can be requested from individual anglers at the contact details shown above.

IMPORTANT: Would anyone who filled in a Log Book during the 2008 trout fishing season, and hasn’t yet returned it, please do so before the end of January 2009 - or risk missing out on the Log Book Prize Draw!
