The Ettrick Counter total for November is significantly lower than what was displayed on the fish counter monitor in the visitor centre due to a large number of turbulence events that were counted as fish, but have been subsequently deleted.  The 2006 total is already the 3^rd highest count since recording started in 1998, so it will be interesting to see if a good total for December can produce a record year. 

Unfortunately the counter has been out of operation for the last week due to damage caused by the recent high water, but we hope to get out to the scanner today (Friday) to see if on site repairs can be made. Due to the high water making it difficult for fish to ascend the fish pass, it is unlikely that we have missed many fish.

Links to some photographs from the fish counter on the Gala Water are below, which records fish in colour.  Although an exact total has not yet been produced for November, the total for the year so far is around 1200 fish.
