The Tweed Wheelyboat - Tweedability I - which was officially launched by Chris Tarrant on 10th October 2006 will be available for loan on Tweed from next February.

The specially adapted boat which allows the less-able angler to easily access River fishing has been successfully trialled and is now ready for use.  Boatmen from any beat which would be interested in using the boat will be given special training over the next few months in preparation for 2007. As long as suitable access, for both the less-able angler and the boat, exist on a beat (or can be offered prior to the loan of the vessel) a proprietor can book the boat from the Tweed Foundation on request from any of his or her anglers.  A small donation to the Tweed Foundation for use of the facility is the only cost involved.

Several anglers have already been in contact with the Tweed Foundation wishing to use the boat and it is hoped that the uptake will be such that we will need three or four more wheelyboats to satisfy demand.

The arrival of  Tweedability I on the River ensures that fishing really IS a sport for all!

Any angler who would like to use the boat should contact the beat on which he/she will be fishing; the fishery proprietor will then ascertain availability and make a booking with the Tweed Foundation.
